If you were at all mistaken, it’s officially hurricane season. From now, through November 30th, storms are likely to increase. It can be a bit dicey visiting the beloved Emerald Coast, but when the weather is behaving, Fall can be one of the best times to visit our crowned jewel! If you’ve planned or are planning a trip in the near future, we’re here to ensure you’re prepared!
Here are some steps you can take to prepare yourself for Hurricane Season:
- Sign up for local alerts at www.floridadisasteralert.org/alertflorida. If you’re staying in Destin, the county to reference is “Okaloosa.” If you have chosen to stay in one of our Miramar Beach, Santa Rosa Beach or 30A vacation homes enter “Walton.”
- Have a plan. Whether you are East Coast or Gulf Coast, you’re primary residence, second home or vacation rental of choice could be susceptible to a storm. Create a disaster supply kit full of basic household items and keep it handy wherever you are.
- Purchase the “Worry-Free Cancellation,” when you book your stay with Five Star Properties. Just 5% of the reservation, this option will allow you to cancel outside of 30 days prior to arrival, NO QUESTIONS ASKED. It also covers you in the event of a mandatory hurricane or tropical storm evacuation. For more details, just ask your reservations agent when you’re ready to book.
- Keep an eye on the storm. Be sure to check our Live Beach Cams frequently to see the surf and remain up to speed on beach conditions.
